Niblick Golf Design opens for Business in Scandinavia
A new company specialising in delivering quality golf course design has been established to serve the Scandinavian market. Based in Oslo, Niblick Golf Design AS is the result of a partnership between Graeme Webster and Brian Phillips, two of the most talented designers of golf courses in recent years. The company is already working on 10 projects throughout Norway and the company is looking to capitalise on this track record and develop its activities throughout the rest of Scandinavia.
Both Webster and Phillips are known for their classical design utilising the natural terrain to produce a course sympathetic to, and in harmony with, the surrounding landscapes. This is achieved by a highly hands on approach to design and close liaison with the clients. These core values are complemented by a commitment to using the latest Computer Aided Design (CAD) technology which helps produce clear and accurate drawings to cost and manage the design and construction process. In addition Webster works with a talented landscape artist to create impressions of the finished design. This unique service assists in the planning process, helps the marketing effort and allows the client the opportunity to visualise how well the finished design fits the landscape.
Webster has been involved in over 50 projects throughout the world including the prestigious Meldrum House, Kings Acre, Inchmarlo and Pumpherston courses in Scotland. He has also designed the new 9 hole extension at Kvinesdal, the 18 hole redesign at Krokhol as well as new projects in Sirdal, Ergersund, Skyset, As/Vestby, Grimstad and Herdla in Norway.
Based in Norway and fluent in Norwegian, Phillips also has significant design and constuction experience including the Grini and Krokhol courses. His first design, Geilo opens for play in 2004. Phillips is the only person in Norway to have graduated from Edinburgh’s Heriot-Watt University with a Master of Science in Golf Course Architecture. He is the only full time practising golf course architect in Norway that is a member of the European Institute of Golf Course Architects (EIGCA).
Graeme Webster will continue to run the successful Scottish-based Team Niblick Ltd. office with Phillips who has lived in Norway since 1993, co-ordinating the activities of Niblick Golf Design in Oslo.
Niblick Golf Design AS will be attending the Golf for Alle’ Exhibiiton in Oslo from 9th to 11th January, stand number B05-22, and both Graeme and Brian will be available to discuss their work. Alternatively they can be contacted at post@niblickgolfdesign.com.
